Nature of position:      Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

 

Wage:                          91,000 per annum. A bonus may be paid from time-to-time, at the sole discretion of the employer.

JOB DUTIES. The following duties will be performed in this position:

 

  • Industrial and Natura Gas Analyzer Prototype Validation & Certification:
    Conduct technical feasibility studies and participate in validation, testing and certification related to industrial and natural gas analysis systems and prototypes (ATEX, CE, etc.) to ensure compliance with international engineering and safety standards.

 

  • Industrial and Natural Gas Process and Product Optimization:

Conduct research into the development and improvement of gas analysis processes and associated chemical engineering methods to enhance accuracy, reliability, and performance.

 

  • Bridge Between Engineering and Market Needs:

Evaluate process technology, analyzer equipment and determine engineering solutions per customers' requirements.

 

  • Technical Assistance and Application Engineering:
    Provide pre- and post-sales technical assistance, ensuring product specifications meet chemical and process control requirements. Conduct customer application analysis to recommend suitable configurations.

 

  • Customer Engagement & Field Support:
    Participate in customer meetings and field visits to oversee process parameters and define product suitability.

 

  • Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
    Collect and evaluate field performance data, warranty claims, and customer feedback to identify product or process improvement opportunities.

 

  • Training & Knowledge Transfer:
    Develop and deliver technical training programs for sales representatives and new hires across Canada, promoting understanding of gas analysis technologies and chemical process fundamentals.

 

  • Lifecycle and Product Management:
    Support customers in managing analyser lifecycle transitions, including replacement of legacy equipment with newer, more energy efficient and process enhancing models.

 

  • Market Research & Development Strategy:

Conduct market research and feasibility studies to identify engineering opportunities in industrial gas, semiconductor, and natural gas sectors.

 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain product quality and ensure compliance with Canadian safety and performance regulations.

 

  • Strategic Development:

Contribute to strategic development initiatives, including planning for regional service and manufacturing platforms based on market growth and technical demand.

 

REQUIREMENTS. The successful applicant will possess, at a minimum, the following skills and experience:

 

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
  • A master's degree in chemical engineering or a related field is an asset, particularly for candidates working independently in complex industrial environments.
  • Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in a related engineering role, with demonstrated ability to work independently and support advanced technical applications.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of chemical engineering principles applied to gas analysis, process optimization, and industrial measurement systems.
  • Proven ability to translate customer and market requirements into practical technical specifications and robust engineering solutions, particularly for complex or non-standard applications.
  • Experience supporting technical sales, application engineering, or customer-facing engineering activities, including direct interaction with demanding industrial clients.
  • Demonstrated experience in field data collection, performance evaluation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in industrial or process environments.
  • Experience developing and delivering technical training on gas analysis technologies, industrial analyzers, or chemical process fundamentals to internal teams and customers.
  • Working knowledge of lifecycle management of industrial analyzers, including system integration, footprint and infrastructure considerations, and replacement of legacy equipment.
  • Ability to conduct engineering-driven market and application assessments and identify technical opportunities in sectors such as industrial gas, semiconductor manufacturing, and natural gas.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering, production, service, procurement, and marketing functions in a cross-functional environment.
  • Capacity to contribute to regional technical development initiatives, including service platform improvements and input into future manufacturing or deployment planning.
  • Willingness and ability to work in hazardous industrial environments when required, in compliance with PPE and safety protocols.
